"Aussie Sam Mckinnon, co-founder of Sittr, discusses creating "Uber for babysitting" and how the business was born on a 12-month trip around the world."
"Sittr lets qualified babysitters and nannies find work in their local area, relieving tired working parents when it matters most."
"There seems to be an app for everything these days, from finding a ride, to getting food delivered to your door. Now, thanks to Sittr, you can hire a babysitter or nanny to look after your little ones."
"You can see reviews from other families and that, for me, is the key. So I can find a local person on Sittr, see what other families have thought about her service and make a decision about whether or not she'd be suited to my kids."
Watch our founders Samantha and James talk about finding a trusted, reliable babysitter or nanny on Channel 9's Today Extra with Sonia Kruger and David Campbell.
"If you need something done, tech geeks will tell you ‘there’s an app for that’. Here are five clever Aussie-made apps that make modern life easier."
“We were fed up with the process of hiring a babysitter for our kids,” Samantha said. “There was no easy solution. We would spend hours vetting, sometimes late into the night. It was hard to tell who was genuine and who wasn’t. I didn’t want to leave my kids with just anyone. I wanted to know I was hiring someone I could trust.”
“It was very important to the pair to ensure that the approval process for would-be carers was very selective. All sitters undergo an identity check and hold a Working with Children Check (Blue Card in Queensland) that is issued by the government after a thorough background check. All sitters also have a current First Aid qualification that includes Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, and most have formal childcare qualifications or have years of experience looking after children.”
“Mum Cherie Carter said she had used the app successfully to find babysitters for her two kids Frankie, 4 and Max, 6. 'This is an UberEats for babysitting' she said.”
Our co-founder James speaks to Trevor Long and Nick Bennett from Talking Technology about how Sittr helps parents find trusted, reliable childcare.
